PUSKAS WOMENS FOOTBALL SYMPOSIUM August 2-6, 2025

Founded by Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban in his hometown Felcsut with lifelong friend Lorinc Mezaros, Puskás Academy, known as 'Pancho Arena' (Puskás’ nickname at Real Madrid) pays homage to legendary Ferenc Puskás.   

Part cathedral, part piece of art, part stadium, it's listed among the top 3 most beautiful stadiums in the world ('stadiumdb'), named the world’s best luxury football stadium ('footballstopten') & chosen among the 12 most beautiful sport stadiums in the world ('Four Four Two'). In addition to hosting 1st team home games, the venue also serves as the women's & youth teams' facility; a museum featuring Ferenc Puskás’ memorabilia, multiple training fields & an impressive new hotel  

 Hungary is bordered by 7 countries: Austria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia & Ukraine. It's a historical & culturally rich country with a safe & flourishing tourist industry & highly rated hotels & cuisine. The Hungarian language isn't related to any other major European language and is culturally connected to Mongolia. Compared with the great European capitals, its historical jewel studded city Budapest is located in the Carpathian Basin of Central Europe & bisected by the Danube River, dotted with  with Ottoman Turkish, Hapsburg & Roman medieval & neoclassical architectural & landmarks

 Hungary is considered one of the best national teams in football history defeated only once between 1950 & 1956. It's coaches are credited with the success of Benfica’s 'Golden Team' & Turins 'Grande Torino' team. Hungary has produced some of the worlds best players: Puskás (Real Madrid); Kubala, Czibor & Kocsis (Barcelona), Bene, Hidegkuti, Bozsik, Albert, Detari, Nyilasi. FIFA's award best goal is called the Puskas Award. Hungary shocked England beating them 6:3 in 'The Match of the Century’ & 7:1 in a re-match. Hungary's resurgence has seen them beat England twice & drawing once, beating & drawing with Germany & drawing with Italy & France. With Liverpool's Szoboszlai & former Puskás Academy player Sallai (Galatasaray) & highly rated Kerkez (Bournemouth), Hungary's rapid on field progress is due to government, federation & clubs significant investment in club & player development & the building of stadium infrastructure 

Hungarian coaches & players are among the most influential & successful in football history. Hungarian football is renowned for being innovative & most remarkably the introduction of ‘Total Football’ pioneered by the "father of modern football", Englishman Jimmy Hogan. Hogan is credited for being the architect of the coaching & playing style of Hungary's Golden Team which dominated European & Global football & shocked the football world by beating England. The success of Austria’s 'Wunderteam' is credited to Hogan's work in Hungary & Benfica’s 'Golden Team' & 'Grande Torino’ team (Erbstein)

Founded in 2008 the 'Puskás Suzuki Cup' is among Europe's best U17 boys tournaments & has featured some of the worlds biggest clubs, several of which Puskás played for; Real Madrid, Honved, Flamengo, Dinamo Kiev, Osijek,  AC Milan, Sporting Lisbon, Feyenoord, Panathinaikos, Genk, Hagi Academy, Bayern Munich, Dinamo Zagreb, Osiek, Slovan Bratislava, Juventus F.C, Glasgow Rangers. The event has grown to attract numerous scouts & observers from around the world. In 2024 Puskas Academy lost in the Final to Real Madrid. The 2025 Puskas Suzuki Cup will take place between May 1-5
